Priyanka Chopra Shares a Touching Tribute to Her Father On the 6th Anniversary of His Death

Even with the passing of time, a parent’s death brings up a multitude of feelings. In honor of the sixth anniversary of her father's death, Priyanka Chopra decided to open up and share her emotions.

The 36-year-old actress penned a short but sweet tribute to her dad, Ashok Chopra, on Instagram and shared a childhood throwback photo.

“6 years. Seems Like just yesterday we lost you…I miss you Dad. Inexplicably,” Chopra captioned the photo of herself from her childhood, where she's sitting in a tree alongside her father. It’s a sweet moment that would melt anyone’s heart.

Her husband, Nick Jonas, immediately commented a heart emoji. Mindy Kaling also commented with heart emojis and several Bollywood stars wrote notes of encouragement. But it was Chopra’s new father-in-law, Paul Jonas Sr., whose caption was a true tear-jerker.

“All our love sweet Daughter-in-Law. Nothing can replace such a special man, but we are here to surround your heart with love and support,” Jonas wrote on behalf of his family.

The Quantico star lost her dad in 2013 to a battle with cancer and has spoken openly about how the experience changed her on a fundamental level.

“Losing my dad changed me in a big way. I think it created a space in my heart which is empty and is always going to be,” Chopra told Harper’s Bazaar Arabia last year.

She went on, saying, “My dad was my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. He loved my achievements. He was a major achiever himself. He was a very creative person. So losing that, and losing his insight on my life, I used to be angry with him after he died. I felt abandoned. But over the years now…I’ve realized that grief becomes your companion, it doesn’t ever go away. You just get used to it.”

Here's to hoping Chopra gets all the love and support she needs during this difficult time.
