One day after the surprise nuptials, the royal family shared a slideshow on its official Instagram account, featuring never-before-seen photos of the newlyweds just moments after they said, “I do.”
Royal Family Shares First Photos From Princess Beatrice’s Wedding—and That Dress(!)
The first pic shows the bride and groom posing for a socially distanced photo with Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip. The second photo features Princess Beatrice and Mozzi peering through a stunning flower archway as they exit the church.
The caption read, “Congratulations to HRH Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi! The couple were married in a small private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor on Friday 17th July.”
Princess Beatrice’s outfit paid tribute to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Not only did she wear an ivory Norman Hartnell dress that was previously donned by Her Majesty, but she also completed the look with the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, which is the same headpiece the queen wore on her wedding day in 1947.
We’re not totally surprised by the news, since Queen Elizabeth gave Princess Beatrice a super-special wedding gift ahead of the nuptials: her blessing. (It’s tradition for members of the royal family to receive the monarch’s approval prior to tying the knot.)
Princess Beatrice was originally supposed to get married on May 29 at St. James Palace’s Chapel Royal, but the ceremony was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
