Princess Beatrice’s Borrowed a Style Trick from Kate Middleton on Date Night

Question: How do you make a classic LBD feel like a fresh statement? Answer: Look to our favorite classic fashion icon of the moment, Kate Middleton. And while Princess Beatrice (Harry and William's cousin) has recently been transforming herself into a style maven in her own right, it appears even as a fellow member of the royal family she can't help but look to K-Middy for tips.

For a recent date night with her new beau, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the Princess of York put her own spin on one of the Middleton's favorite accessory hacks and matched her chic, fit-and-flare black frock to a detailed hatband (aka an oversize headband). The Duchess of Cambridge has been rocking the matching hatband-dress combo for years, and honestly we're pretty surprised that the rest of the world, Beatrice included, has only recently caught on to the trend.

Of course, the princess's version included her own twist. Whereas Middleton appears to favor more simple hatbands in exact matching hues, Beatrice's black band had an intricate rhinestone pattern to give her look a rocker edge (or, at least as rock and roll as a royal can get).

As if Beatrice's date night look wasn't fabulous enough, she finished it off with a super-sweet tribute to her boyfriend with a Cartier Juste Un Clou bangle engraved with the letter E. True, it could be a sign of sisterly love for the recently married Princess Eugenie, but we're going to go ahead and assume it's for her S.O. instead.
