Prince William Is Taking After His Dad & Recording a Podcast

Prince William is following in the footsteps of Prince Charles and getting into the world of podcasting.

The Duke of Cambridge recently teased one of his new projects, where he joined English soccer player Peter Crouch for a special episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast in support of the Heads Up campaign, which aims to open up the discussion about mental health through football.

The episode was released ahead of this weekend’s Heads Up FA Cup Final, between Arsenal and Chelsea, and covers everything from the return of football during the coronavirus pandemic to the importance of taking care of your mental health.

“We all have to stay mentally fit,” he said during the interview. “It’s a strength to talk about your mental health, it’s not a weakness. You know if you’re not feeling well, something’s bothering you, talk about it—it’s not a problem.”

The 37-year-old’s appearance comes just three months after his father, Prince Charles, jumped into podcasting. In April, the Prince of Wales teamed up with Westminster Abbey to release a podcast episode for the Abbey’s new show that aims to help people worship from afar. In the episode (which was a stand-in for Easter services), the prince read a verse from The Bible (John 20: 1-18 to be specific) about Mary Magdalene learning that Jesus is missing from his tomb.

And Charles wasn’t the first member of the royal family to jump on the podcast bandwagon. His youngest son, Prince Harry, was the first royal to make an audio appearance. The Duchess of Cambridge followed by participating in a candid interview earlier this year on the popular parenting podcast, Happy Mum, Happy Baby.
