Prince William Speaks Out with Rare Personal Message on Twitter and Signs it ‘W’

In celebration of England’s women’s soccer team, the Lionesses, heading to the 2023 World Cup finals after beating the Matildas (aka Team Australia), Prince William, 41, wrote a very personal message to congratulate them on their victory. And to ensure the teammates knew it came from him, he signed the note with his one-of-a-kind signature.

Earlier today, the Prince of Wales (who is a massive soccer fan) penned the message to the soccer team on the Twitter account he shares with his wife, Kate Middleton, 41. He wrote in the tweet, “What a phenomenal performance from the @Lionesses – on to the final! Commiserations to @TheMatildas, you've played brilliantly and been fantastic co-hosts of this World Cup.”

But, the prince didn’t end the note right there. At the end of the message, William signed the note with his unique marker: “W.”

This is not the first time the royal heir has used his personal signature to let us know that the message came directly from him (as opposed to one of the royal social media account handlers). Back in July 2022, Prince William sent a “good luck” message to the Lionesses, who were on their way to compete in the Women’s Euro tournament.

Alongside a clip reposted on the soccer team’s Twitter page, the prince wrote in the caption, “Good luck to the @Lionesses as the Women’s Euro 2022 kicks off today. You’re already doing the nation proud and we’ll be cheering you on throughout the tournament!” And William signed the tweet with his own “W” signature.
