Prince William is adding another patronage to his résumé.
It was announced on Thursday that the Duke of Cambridge has taken the on role of Patron at London’s Air Ambulance Charity, which has been providing rapid emergency care around the capital since 1989. In his role, William will champion the important work carried out by the charity.
“We are honoured to announce that HRH The Duke of Cambridge will today become Patron of London’s Air Ambulance Charity,” the organization’s official Instagram wrote in a post. “The announcement comes following The Duke’s patronage of our charity’s yearlong 30th anniversary campaign in 2019. Last year The Duke flew our helicopter from Kensington Palace to The Royal London Hospital, where he met with staff and patients from the service.”
If you didn’t know, William worked for several years as an air ambulance pilot in East Anglia (before becoming a full-time royal in 2017). And back in November, the Duke of Cambridge, attended the Air Ambulance Charity Gala. He has also spoken multiple times about his work there and the need for access to mental health support for the pilots.
According to Hello! Magazine, Kensington Palace also released its own statement regarding the news. They said, "His Royal Highness has seen first-hand the impact these first responders have upon the lives of patients with critical injuries. As Patron of the London's Air Ambulance Charity, the Duke will continue to champion those working on the frontline, and highlight the charity's vital work in supporting the London's Air Ambulance's rapid response to incidents, and its provision of life-saving medical treatment."
