Prince William Wants to Control the Royal Twitter Account But ‘They’ Won't Let Him: ‘I Have to Fight Them For It’

Prince William may not post on Twitter often, but when he does, you know it’s a big deal.

The 38-year-old Duke of Cambridge made a recent appearance on the BBC’s That Peter Crouch Podcast, where he spoke about the Kensington Palace Twitter account which shares with wife Kate Middleton. As it turns out, William pretty much has no control over the page (we’re not surprised).

"No, they deliberately keep me away from that,” he said during the interview. However, there was one occasion in which he simply could not control himself and felt compelled to send out a tweet of his own—when Liverpool won the Semi-Final against Barcelona last year.

"When Liverpool did that amazing [game against Barcelona] I went mental, I grabbed the Twitter thing and I just posted it," he said. "It was an amazing match. I was literally blown away by it. It was one of the best games of football I've ever seen. And I got completely out of control and I just went, 'Tweet that, get it out. Give it here!'"

The tweet in question was sent back in May 2019."Well done Liverpool—an incredible result, what a comeback," it read. He even signed the tweet with a “W.”

However, it seems like the prince has been trying to experiment more with the social media outlet—sadly, to no avail.

"Nearly every Villa [referring to the British team Aston Villa] game we've won, which hasn't been many this season, I've been trying to get a hold of it," he continued. "They keep it away from me now. I have to fight them for it.”

Keep pushing Will. We always love to see that famous “W.”
