Prince William & Kate Middleton Announce First Joint Appearance of 2020

Yesterday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first public appearance of 2020. And now, Prince William and Kate Middleton are following suit.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just announced that their first joint engagement will take place on Monday, January 20. Prince William and Middleton will host a reception at Buckingham Palace in honor of the U.K.-Africa Investment Summit.

Although they’re holding the reception on behalf of Queen Elizabeth, the actual summit will be hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The goal is to educate businesses, governments and international institutions on all the different investment opportunities in Africa.

The news comes just a few days after Prince William and Middleton made an unofficial appearance in Sandringham, England. The Duke and Duchess joined Queen Elizabeth for the morning church service at St. Mary Magdalene, but they weren’t alone.

The royal couple brought along an entourage of guests, since they were hosting people at their country home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk in honor of Middleton’s 38th birthday on Thursday (January 9).

Attendees included Thomas van Straubenzee (one of Princess Charlotte’s godparents) and his fiancée, Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe, who is a teacher at Prince George and Char’s school, Thomas’s Battersea.

Lady Laura Meade (one of Prince Louis’s godparents) also attended the festivities alongside her husband, James Meade, who is one of Princess Charlotte’s godparents. Rounding out the group was Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, and her husband, David, the Marquess of Cholmondeley.
