The royal family may need to hire a fact checker for their social media, because Prince Louis’s birthday post contained a blatant error. (And no, it still hasn’t been corrected.)
In honor of Prince Louis’s 2nd birthday yesterday, the royal family shared a series of official portraits on Queen Elizabeth’s official Twitter account (@RoyalFamily), featuring the young royal completing a rainbow art project.
Part of the caption read, “HRH is the queen’s seventh great-grandchild.” We repeat, “Seventh great-grandchild.”
See anything wrong? Well, you might not, unless you’re a royal nerd like us. But someone in the royal family should have noticed that Prince Louis is actually Queen Elizabeth’s sixth great-grandchild, not her seventh. According to our handy dandy encyclopedia (aka Google), the order goes as follows: Savannah Phillips (9), Isla Phillips (8), Mia Tindall (6), Prince George (6) and Princess Charlotte (4), which makes Prince Louis number six.
Since Prince Louis’s birth in 2018, the queen has welcomed two more great-grandchildren, Lena Tindall and Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, bringing the total to eight. We don’t know where the confusion began, but maybe they accidentally counted George or Charlotte twice (their larger-than-life personalities might make them seem like more than one child).
Royals, they’re just like us—even when it comes to making typos.
