Prince Harry & Prince William Joined Forces to Show Support for a Legendary Rugby Player

Prince Harry and Prince William may have branched off and dissolved their joint charity, but they’re still very much aligned where it counts. The 35-year-old Duke of Sussex and the 37-year-old Duke of Cambridge both spoke out today in support of Rugby legend Gareth Thomas, who just revealed he’s been living with HIV.

Thomas, 45, announced the news on Twitter in an emotional video, explaining, “I want to share my secret with you. Why? Because it’s mine to tell you.”

Prince William, an avid Rugby fan, immediately reposted the video on the Kensington Palace Twitter account and included a personal note.

“Courageous as ever—legend on the pitch and legend off it. You have our support Gareth,” William wrote, signing off with a “W.”

Prince Harry joined his brother in applauding Thomas’s honesty. He shared a portrait of the former captain of the British and Irish Lions on Instagram and captioned it with words of encouragement.

“Gareth, you are an absolute legend! In sharing your story of being HIV+, you are saving lives and shattering stigma, by showing you can be strong and resilient while living with HIV,” Prince Harry wrote.

Princess Diana worked tirelessly to end the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, so it’s safe to say she’d be very proud of her sons.
