Prince Harry Just Made a Surprise Appearance Far from His California Home

Prince Harry is back playing his favorite game—polo—and in typical Harry fashion, he’s doing it for charity.

This week, the Duke of Sussex hosted a charity polo tournament in Aspen, Colorado, for his Sentebale charity to help raise critical funds to support vulnerable children in Southern Africa impacted by HIV/AIDS, poverty and inequality. Harry co-founded the charity in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

Of course, the 35-year-old made sure to get in on the action and played for the Sentebale team. In fact, he even scored two goals and helped the team win 3-0 in a round-robin tournament against the Royal Salute Team and U.S. Polo Association. It’s also important to note that this match is the prince’s first since he stepped down as a senior member of the royal family.

Not only did the father of two play in the tournament, but he also pledged a whopping $1.5 million to the cause, making the official amount raised just over $3.5 million. His generous donation will come from the profits of his recently announced “accurate and wholly truthful” memoir. The book will reportedly explore the “highs and lows” of his life and is set to be published in late 2022.

“The Sentebale Polo Cup is critical to securing the funds needed to advance this important mission, and I’m thrilled to be able to support Sentebale, both in person and financially through a separate charitable donation to meet this immediate need," Prince Harry said in a statement per Women & Home.

“This is one of several donations I plan to make to charitable organizations and I’m grateful to be able to give back in this way for the children and communities who gravely need it.”

Good to see you back in the game, Harry.
