Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Surprise Volunteers with Heartfelt Gesture on MLK Day

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are doing their part to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy.

In honor of MLK Day, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave back by offering free meals to project volunteers and staff at The King Center in Atlanta. The duke and duchess worked with two Black-owned food trucks, Paige's Pastries & Bistro and Parlay Savory Saloon, to provide lunches to those who helped with the day's events. And in response, The King Center shared their gratitude on Twitter, offering a glimpse of the couple's contribution. The organization wrote, "Thank you, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for providing local Black-owned food trucks for our #MLKDay service project volunteers. Your care matters so much to those here to register and educate voters and collect items for our homeless neighbors."

Dr. Bernice King, daughter of the late civil rights leader, also thanked the royal couple for their generosity. She tweeted, "Thank you, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for providing local Black-owned food trucks for @TheKingCenter's King Day Community Service Project volunteers today. I'm so grateful for your graciousness in honoring my father. #MLKDay #BelovedCommunity."

Monday's events included a voter registration, an education initiative and a Community Commemorative Service, which featured keynote speaker Rev. Michael Bruce Curry.

This isn't the first time Markle and Prince Harry have offered their support for a good cause. Shortly after their move to California in 2020, the royals were spotted volunteering with Project Angel Food in Los Angeles. And earlier that week, Entertainment Tonight reported that the duo joined the charity to deliver free meals. Richard Ayoub, Project Angel Food’s executive director, told ET, "I am blown away that they chose us. They care about our vulnerable population."

Keep up the amazing work, you two.
