Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Team Up for Surprise Video Appearance from Their New Home

It’s been a few days since we learned that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle purchased a multi-million-dollar estate in Montecito, California. While we assumed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would scale back on official duties, that hasn’t been the case.

This week, the royal couple teamed up for their very first joint appearance from their new Santa Barbara home. During the video call, Prince Harry and Markle chatted with leaders from the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (or QCT) about using digital influence for the greater good.

During the video, Prince Harry and Markle spoke with experts about how they can assist people to navigate the ever-changing digital landscape. The Duke of Sussex even thanked the workers for their continued efforts, saying, “Hearing you guys, and knowing the broad spectrum that QCT engulfs, you’re the definition of the 21st century Commonwealth, and what it means to be part of it. You are there, standing for equality, for mutual respect and for fairness.”

The clip also gave us a rare look at the royal couple’s new estate, which has 19,000 square feet of living space (including 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms). The background features two large windows that provide loads of natural light for their tree, which is situated next to a stone fireplace. (Because winter in California is so unbearable.)

The new home is located in Montecito, a seaside town in Santa Barbara County. Although it’s about a two-hour drive from Los Angeles, the area is known for being a celebrity hot spot, with people like Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey and Ariana Grande owning nearby compounds.

If self-isolation continues, Prince Harry and Markle might start running out of corners to showcase. One room down, 18 more to go.
