Markle, 38, and her 35-year-old husband shared a photo collage of people engaging in acts of good and captioned it, “For the month of February we are pleased to follow @globalpositivenews which focuses on the acts of kindness and uplifting stories of community across the globe. We hope you enjoy!” (We will!)
Although the couple is clearly championing a worthy cause, there’s another hidden aspect to their support of positive news. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been embroiled in a legal battle with several British tabloids since late last year. When they announced their Sussex Royal initiative, they outlined a brand-new media policy that promises to “enhance access and give the Duke and Duchess the ability to share information more freely with members of the public.” It also states that the couple will no longer participate in the Royal Rota system and will instead “engage with grassroots media [organizations] and young, up-and-coming journalists” and “provide access to credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events.” Both their decision to bring fans’ attention to Global Positive News and their new media relations policy prove they’re committed to amplifying the positive and sends a message about their distaste for the negative.
They also shared a series of news stories about people doing acts of good in Australia in light of the tragic bushfires late last week.
All we can say is we’re noticing a trend and we’re all about it.
