Did You Catch Prince George’s Broken Button in His New Birthday Pics?

The royal family recently released brand-new photos of Prince George ahead of his seventh birthday today. In the midst of the excitement, we almost missed the minor wardrobe malfunction that every parent can relate to.

It all started yesterday when Kensington Palace dropped two never-before-seen pictures of the birthday boy, which were taken by mom slash budding photographer Kate Middleton. Upon closer inspection, we couldn’t help but notice that Prince George is sporting a broken button on his collared shirt.

It’s clear the bottom button broke in half, leaving behind a half-circle that’s surprisingly still attached to the shirt. While it’s not a huge deal (especially for moms of toddlers), we’re a tad shocked that Middleton didn’t request an outfit change for Prince George’s official birthday portraits.

Not only does the broken button give us a glimpse into the Duchess of Cambridge’s laid-back parenting style, but it also proves she doesn’t sweat the little things.

Unfortunately, we don’t know how Prince George will celebrate his seventh birthday this year, but we have a feeling Prince William and Middleton have something exciting planned. (The royal couple already arranged self-isolation celebrations for his two siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.)

Westminster Abbey typically rings in birthdays of the royal family by chiming the church’s bells. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ritual is currently suspended and is expected to resume in August when the U.K.’s social distancing restrictions are lifted, which means Prince George missed the tradition by a matter of days.

Cheers to imperfect fashion!
