Prince George’s Top 10 Cutest Moments in Honor of His 4th Birthday
There comes a day in every toddler’s life when it's time to say ta-ta to nap time and hello to more serious endeavors like reading, writing and arithmetic. For Prince George (Kate Middleton and Prince William’s first-born nugget), that day is tomorrow, July 22—his fourth birthday. In one night’s time, little George will say goodbye to his three-nage years and take the giant leap from toddler to preschool-aged lad. From meeting President Obama (in a chic bathrobe nonetheless) to rolling down a grassy knoll and all of his funny facial expressions in between, here are ten of Prince George’s cutest moments.
When He Graced Us With His Royal Presence for the First Time
On July 22, 2013, our lives were forever changed when new parents Kate Middleton and Prince William introduced their beautiful baby boy, Prince of Cambridge George Alexander Louis, and his cherubic face to the world.
And Embarked on His Inaugural Royal Tour
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tried to keep their son out of the public eye as much as possible during his first year of princedom. However, in 2014 the royal family decided it was high time the little prince stepped into the spotlight. They brought little George and his pudgy forearms along on a three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand.
When He Experienced the Bliss of Rolling Down a Grassy Hill
At the Gigaset Charity Polo Match in 2015, Prince George demonstrated that he, just like any other toddler, had seemingly endless reserves of energy. The two-year-old (at the time) was spotted frolicking through the grass, sliding down hills and running away from his mummy, K-Middy, who couldn’t help but chase him with the largest grin.
And Greeted Foreign Dignitaries in His Loungewear
When former U.S. president Barack Obama paid a visit to Kensington Palace in 2016, Prince George didn’t miss a beat and addressed the commander in chief with a firm handshake…despite his casual attire.
When He Made Faces at the Crowd
Just because the George didn’t get an invite to the Trooping the Colour ceremony in 2015 doesn’t mean he wasn’t the star of the show. While his parents tended to their royal duties, Prince George had a party of his own with his nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion, and showed off one of his many hidden talents—silly faces.
And Squished His Head Against the Plane Window
Is there anything more adorable than a pouty Prince George? We think not.
When He Kept Close Watch Over His Baby Sister
Some big brothers can be skeptical about a sibling infringing on their territory—not Prince George. The precious prince took his role as big bro to Princess Charlotte very seriously from the start and even kept tabs on her whereabouts during her christening. Those protective instincts will come in mighty handy in her teenage years.
And Posed Like a Natural for His First Day of School
Prince George started school at a nursery in Norfolk in 2016, and his stylish mummy K-Middy snapped this glamour shot to document the moment. Cue those terrible memories of awkward school portraits. *Shudders*
When He Slipped Into Something a Little More Formal
George did not take his pageboy duties for Auntie Pippa’s wedding lightly. Princess Charlotte may have stolen the show as a bridesmaid, but the Prince sucked up his pride and rocked the requisite Peter Pan-collared shirt, khaki knickerbockers and white tights like a pro.
And Gave the People What They Wanted: A Royal Wave
Prince George gave his fans a proper farewell as the royal family departed Pippa’s gorgeous wedding. Clearly, this little ham has the whole royal thing on lock. Happy birthday, George!
