Prince Charles Gave Us a Rare Look Inside His Home and the Decor Is Bonkers (2 Rooster Statues?!)

Prince Charles just hosted a major royal event at his home, while simultaneously giving us a glimpse into his unique taste in decor.

The Prince of Wales welcomed the Iraqi prime minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to Clarence House on Thursday. Lucky for us, while the meeting took place behind closed doors, Clarence House gave us a small peek at the event on Instagram. One photograph in particular shows the future king in high spirits as he smiles at Mr. Al-Kadhimi with his arms wide open. Of course, the two men maintained a safe social distance.

And while we love to see the Duke of Cornwall taking on these major engagements as he prepares for the monarchy, we couldn’t help but be distracted by everything else going on in the background—specifically the extensive and elaborate decor.

One of the first things that caught our attention was the pair of matching rooster statutes placed on top of the mantle of the fireplace. (An interesting choice but we’re not against it). Also on display in Prince Charles's room is a large collection of plates and a crystal candelabra.

And after taking a closer look behind the Prime Minister, we noticed a photograph that looks awfully familiar. The photo, which is situated on a wooden console table is an official portrait of Prince William on the day of his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.

Taken in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace, the sweet snap shows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge surrounded by their family members and their royal bridal party.

Suddenly, we’re in the market for matching bird statuettes.
