We Need to Talk About the Way Prince Charles Uses Headphones

Like all of us, Prince Charles certainly has his quirks. For one, he likes his shoe laces ironed and has a car that runs on wine. But today during a royal outing, he revealed that he also has a very distinct way of using an everyday item.

It all started when Prince Charles visited Pinewood Studios in Iver Health, England. He toured the set of the Bond 25 film with actor Daniel Craig and cracked jokes with Ralph Fiennes. That was all well and good, but when the 70-year-old prince stepped away with actress Naomie Harris, who plays Eve Moneypenny in the film, something peculiar happened: He used headphones in a way we never expected.

As you can see, the Prince of Wales opted to perpetuate his reputation as a royal wild card and acted as though he’d never used headphones before. The manner in which he used them was equal parts Britney Spears in the recording studio and person using a rotary telephone. Maybe he didn’t want to mess up his hair, maybe he has an earache on one side or maybe he was just being silly. Who knows?

It feels important to note how cool Harris is being about the whole thing. She’s simply acting like that is the most natural way in the world to listen to audio via headphones, right?

But Prince Charles’s visit wasn’t just meant to perplex us. He was actually at Pinewood Studios to honor the contributions the James Bond franchise has made to the British Film Institute and Intelligence Services, both of which he serves as patron to.

You keep doing you, Charles.
