Big changes are afoot for Prince Charles, who will take over the British throne when Queen Elizabeth steps down (or passes away).
The Prince of Wales, 71, recently made a big decision in regards to his organic Home Farm in Gloucestershire, England. The royal opted to not renew his lease on the 1,000-acre plot of land, which expires in the spring of 2021.
Prince Charles has owned Home Farm, which is located near his Highgrove country estate, for 35 years. In 1985, the royal converted the land into an organic farming system, which is how it operates to this day.
We’re not totally surprised that Prince Charles is giving up the farm, since he was facing a 20-year lease renewal. Not to mention, the decision teases his future role as the King of England, since he’ll likely take over the throne within the next decade or so, thus leaving him far less time for farming. However, Prince Charles is planning on continuing his efforts on a much smaller scale.
