60 Percent of Couples Are Guilty of Pre-Ringing. Are You One of Them?

Admit it: You have a perfectly curated Pinterest board of gorgeous dress styles, wedding decor ideas and “the ultimate planning checklist that every bride needs to bookmark.”

But if you’ve also already staked out a venue, set a possible date or put a dress on hold before you’re even engaged, you’re not alone. More than 60 percent of couples are guilty of wedding planning before the proposal, according to a new study from the registry experts at Zola. This “pre-ringing” even included things like cake taste-testing and picking a hashtag. A whopping 15 percent of the 1,000 couples surveyed admitted to booking a venue before a significant other popped the question.

Call it jumping the gun, or call it being prepared: Whatever you want to call it, pre-ringing is a trend that could put both positive and negative pressure on the nowhere-near-newlyweds.

But, seriously, is that venue booked for next fall? Asking for a friend…
