‘OutDaughtered’ Star Adam Busby Reveals He’s Suffering from Postpartum Depression
If you haven't watched (and subsequently become addicted to) TLC’s OutDaughtered, then we highly suggest checking out this show.
The series chronicles the journey of Adam and Danielle Busby, parents who have their hands full with eight-month-old quintuplets—identical twins Ava and Olivia and fraternal triplets Hazel, Riley and Parker—in addition to their six-year-old daughter, Blayke.
As if supporting and caring for six daughters isn't enough, Adam—not his wife, Danielle—just revealed he’s suffering from postpartum depression and plans to confront the problem during the show's third season.
Adam opened up about his interesting battle with postpartum depression in a statement he released to People today, writing, “After coming face to face with postpartum depression following the birth of our five daughters, I quickly learned that this is a very real struggle that dads all around the world go through, yet you rarely ever hear it talked about. I’d be doing an extreme disservice to our fans if I hid this from the public and wasn’t honest with them.”
Adam took to Twitter to continue his quest to raise awareness of male postpartum depression, tweeting, “Read the statistics… 1 in 10 men struggle with it. No one wants to talk about it though.” So men can actually suffer from postpartum depression... Who knew?
OutDaughtered airs on Tuesdays at on TLC. This is going to be so good.
