‘Ford v Ferrari’ Wins Best Sound Editing at the 2020 Academy Awards

Another thing we love about movies? The sounds effects!

The 92nd annual Academy Awards took place tonight at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. During the event, Ford v Ferrari took home the Oscar for Best Sound Editing. The film beat out Joker, 1917, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Joker leads the nominations this year with a whopping 11 nods total including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and 1917 received 10 nods (also including Best Picture), while Ford v Ferrari earned four. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker landed a respectable three nominations.

During last year’s ceremony, Bohemian Rhapsody took home the award for this category. The film was up against Black Panther, First Man, A Quiet Place and Roma.

While the Best Sound Editing category was first introduced back in 1964, it used to be called Best Sound Effects and Best Sound Effects Editing. Previous winners include Bohemian Rhapsody, Dunkirk, Arrival, Mad Max: Fury Road, American Sniper, Gravity, Zero Dark Thirty, Skyfall, Hugo and Inception.

Cue the applause.
