Orlando Bloom Shares Story of How He ‘Narrowly Escaped Death’ Along with a Super Rare Throwback

While Orlando Bloom has been sharing many photos of his backside recently, we did not expect this latest image.

It turns out that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor endured a serious injury when he was around 21 years old, and he shared the story with a rare throwback on his Instagram account.

In the snap, a young Bloom is seen smiling and looking over his shoulder while riding on a bike and sporting some headphones. The star is seen wearing bright red shorts, but he's also got a purple brace on his back. Bloom explained, “That’s me in my back brace circa 1998 about 3months after I fell 3floors and crushed my spine, narrowly escaping death and paralysis.”

Luckily, Bloom was able to avoid any long-term injury, and he said, “Grateful everyday for my limbs that allow me to push my limits and live life on my edge (safer now).” The actor followed up the throwback with a more recent shot, where he is seen riding a bike through a woodsy road alongside a friend.

Fellow stars showed their love in the comments, like Bloom's wife, Katy Perry, who said, “I love you.” Talent manager Aleen Keshishian wrote, “U r amazing orly!” Meanwhile, Miranda Kerr commented, “So proud of you.”

It seems that now, thankfully, the injury hasn't slowed the actor down at all. Bloom's Instagram is full of his various adventures, whether he's hiking with pups, practicing his archery or snowboarding down snowy mountains. And if the actor returns for any Pirates of the Caribbean movies, we would guess that he might have some sword-fighting and other stunts in his near future, too.

We're glad you're being safer now, Orlando.
