Netflix Just Issued Its Official Farewell to ‘Orange Is the New Black’

Orange Is the New Black’s final bow is nearly here, and Netflix is celebrating the bittersweet milestone with a little thank-you for fans.

In honor of the show’s upcoming seventh and final season, the streaming platform just released a featurette that shows never-before-seen interviews with the cast. Needless to say, things get emotional.

The video opens on Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon) musing about their relationship and wondering if they still would have ended up together had circumstances been different.

As you see above, both characters feel they were “doomed to be together.” It’s a facet of their relationship that rings true in the show’s final season, Prepon told PureWow in an exclusive interview. “That’s a main storyline this year, the fact that it’s not easy when you’re married and one of them is incarcerated and the other one is out in the world,” Prepon explained.

But Prepon and Schilling aren’t the only ones saying goodbye to OITNB. The rest of the cast, as well as creator Jenji Kohan, also opened up about their experience filming the series and moving on after seven years.

Taryn Manning (Tiffany) admits that people stop her on the street to tell her how much they relate to the show. Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) applauds the show for its transcendent quality, saying it’s more a show about “people’s lives” than prison. Laverne Cox (Sophia) shares her gratitude for being given the opportunity to portray the trans experience.

It’s a must-watch before the season seven premiere on Friday, August 9. All we can say is, are we the only ones tearing up?
