The Olympics May Be Postponed, but that’s Not Stopping Olympian Pita Taufatofua from Leading Free Virtual Workouts

It’s been four years since Tongan flag bearer Pita Taufatofua and his abs went viral after the 2016 Olympics opening ceremony and we can still remember the glisten of his body oil. And while the professional taekwondo and cross-country skiing Olympian (yes, both) was impacted by the Tokyo 2020 Olympics being postponed, he’s taking his newfound free time to offer virtual workouts.

The 36-year-old two-time Olympian (he competed in the 2016 summer games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2018 PyeongChang winter games) is now offering free ten-minute workouts on the Olympics’ official Instagram page.

Taufatofua announced the news on his personal Instagram page yesterday, writing, “It’s happening—I am going live on the @olympicchannel insta page for the next 5 days starting today! I will be delivering a short, structured 10 minute workout that anyone can follow from the comfort of your lounge room. I’ve added a workout count down time in my insta story so you can know exactly when it’s go time! Make sure you follow the Olympic Channel, and be ready with your sweat band, bulging biceps and corona free water bottle! #ShirtsAreOptional.”

Starting today through Saturday, Taufatofua will be streaming his quick home workouts live from the Olympic Channel’s Instagram at 7 a.m. EST daily.

This is definitely a great way to cheer athletes and fans up in light of the news that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics have now been postponed to 2021. And, if we’re being honest, we definitely wouldn’t mind a quick sweat after being cooped up inside.
