From infinity pools to personalized menus to OTT turndown services (why, yes, we would love a Fiji water and pack of Advil next to our bed for tomorrow morning), we’ve seen our fair share of hotel trends.
So maybe it’s our growing desire to relive the cellphone-less era, or our love of nostalgia (hey, Spice Girls reunion), but we’re thrilled about the biggest one for the coming year that you’re sure to spot during your 2019 travels: “Roominiscent hotels,” aka a fancy (yes, made-up) word for vacation spots that make you reminisce and relive the days of yesteryear.
Think: Colorful bunk bed bungalows at Freehand Miami, themed suites based on your favorite nostalgia-inducing TV show at The Gregory in NYC and milk and cookies after an in-room pillow fight at Hotel Derek in Houston.
According to HotelTonight, bunk bed hotels are seriously on the rise and getting booked twice as often as normal rooms, which leads us to believe everyone’s taking way more BFF trips than us (and we’re jealous).
So bring on the board games and popcorn and hang the “privacy please” sign on the door, because we’re ready for “roominiscing.”
