Nicole Kidman Confirms Meryl Streep Is in the ‘Big Little Lies’ Group Text—but That’s Not the Best Part

Just when we thought the illustrious Big Little Lies group text couldn’t get any more star-studded, Nicole Kidman just revealed an astonishing fact. Thanks to the BLL season two cast additions, the group text chain now includes a certain three-time Oscar-winning actress. Guess who it is?

Yes, according to the trustworthy source that is Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep is a part of the BLL text chain. Not only that, but Kidman, 51, claims in the Vanity Fair May cover story that her formidable on-screen mother-in-law is “very funny” in a text convo. Now, that’s a tantalizing detail if we’ve ever heard one.

Imagine receiving a text from Streep, 69, that is not only from a living legend highly-revered for her dramatic portrayals of serious people like former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher and suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, but noticing that it’s also funny. Does she tell jokes? Is Meryl a secret pun master? Is her meme game strong? Sadly, Kidman didn’t dish out details about Streep’s comedy stylings.

She did, however, confirm that the Big Little Lies group chat is highly exclusive. And while male cast-members Adam Scott, who plays Ed Mackenzie, and Alexander Skarsgård, who plays (played?) the now-dead Perry Wright, are nice and all, they’re not invited.

Kidman drew a hard line in the sand and explained, “There are no men in our equation. I mean, there are, but they’re not on the group chat, let’s put it that way.”

Let it be known: As far as Big Little Lies group chats go, men are the conversational equivalent of old silk plants gathering dust in a corner. Meryl, on the other hand, is the life of the texting party.
