The Nine Perfect Strangers actress talked about her first encounter with her now-husband in an interview with Harper's Bazaar. The pair met back in 2005, at an event honoring Australians called G’Day L.A. And apparently for Kidman, she's was interested at first sight.
During the event, when Urban gave a speech that included a reference to his mother, Kidman's sister leaned over to her and said, “Well, it doesn’t get much better than that.” To which Kidman replied, “Yeah, but he’s not gonna be interested in me.”
In the interview, Kidman then laughed and said, “And he actually wasn’t that interested in me at the time—which he now says is not true; he was just sort of intimidated.”
But Kidman wasn't willing to give up that easily.
“Yeah. I was really, really into him,” she admitted. She also revealed that she had a few “angels” who were “behind the scenes, helping us hook up.” These angels must have done their job well, because after four months, the pair started talking on the phone, and only a year later, they were married at a chapel in Sydney.
“He took a little time. And he’s like, ‘That is so incorrect, Nicole,’” she joked.
Now, the couple have been together for over 15 years, and the sparks seem to be just as strong as ever. Back in June, the two celebrated their anniversary and Urban posted a photo to his Instagram that was captioned, “Happy anniversary babygirl !!!!!!! my life started when you said ‘I do’ 5475 days ago today ♥️♥️.”
We're glad that Urban was able to get over that original feeling of intimidation.
