If you’re like us, then you appreciate a hefty pour of Malbec that pairs nicely with a little bit of true crime. Perhaps you’re a fan of sav blanc with the game Clue or Murder on the Orient Express. Well, if you’re reading this and thinking this is totally me! then ready your air miles because there’s something happening in Napa Valley, California, you’re not going to want to miss.
Napa Valley Wine Train’s new Murder Mystery–themed voyage is everything a wine and true-crime enthusiast could want—and more. The new offering takes passengers back to prohibition era for a night of dinner, drinks and, as the name suggests, mystery.
So, what does the Napa Wine Train outing entail? Well, imagine you’re just minding your business hanging out at the train’s Mafia Don Lou Zar’s juice bar. Suddenly, someone gets whacked and it’s your job to figure out who the culprit is. Expect to interview perps, trade clues and watch out for undercover cops, warring mobsters and jilted lovers.
But a classic whodunit isn’t the only treat guests will enjoy. In addition to the entertainment, the Murder Mystery experience includes a three-course meal with a wine pairing for each course. Mystery aficionados can enjoy a tasty beef or pork tenderloin, roasted chicken, a kale and quinoa salad, fish or pasta all while tasting some of Napa’s finest wine. Oh, did we mention there’s an on-train pastry chef who whips up a surprise for dessert?
The Murder Mystery train adventure takes place on select Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays from April 13 through November 9 and prices start at a cool $216 per person. Sound like your cup of tea glass of wine? Tickets and further details are available on the Wine Train website.
If you need us, we’ll be composing an email announcing we finally know what we’re doing for our birthday.
