Meghan Markle Personally Enlisted Misha Nonoo for Her Smart Works Capsule Collection

Misha Nonoo is opening up about the capsule collection she co-designed with Meghan Markle, who was apparently the showrunner behind it all.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the fashion designer discussed the duchess’s Smart Works collection, which included a staple white button-down shirt designed by Nonoo.

Although Markle partnered with several experts for the project, the fashion designer admitted that the royal had an extremely hands-on role. In fact, she personally reached out to Nonoo to explain Smart Works’s initiative, which helps women dress professionally for job interviews.

“The Duchess of Sussex asked me, knowing what I did and the fact that, you know, my whole ethos kind of circles around this idea of eliminating waste, capsule wardrobes, dressing women to be their best selves from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,” she said.

Nonoo went on to say that she was all-in once Markle gave her the rundown, adding, “When I found out really what Smart Works did—and their work is incredible, the way that they help women get back into the workforce by dressing them and then helping coach them through interview processes and things like that—I was sold on the idea.”

Although Markle courted Nonoo, the duchess didn’t overstep her boundaries when it came time to design the collection.

“It was a pretty incredible process in the sense that the duchess asked me to create this shirt and then was very respectful and understanding that this is what I do and kind of trusted that when I came to her with the final design, it would probably be the right thing,” Nonoo explained. “So, we had a couple conversations about what it should look like, what she was thinking, and then she let me take it from there.”

Bless you, Meghan Markle.
