Mindy Kaling Just Unintentionally Recreated a Famous Leo DiCaprio Meme

Mindy Kaling’s birthday might have been days ago, but it looks like she’s still celebrating while simultaneously channeling her inner Leonardo DiCaprio.

On Wednesday, the 42-year-old actress shared a slideshow featuring one snap of herself and another of the famous actor on her personal Instagram account. “No greater thrill than realizing you accidentally emulated a Leo meme,” she captioned the post.

The first image features Kaling standing inside of a bar with a glass of what looks to be Johnny Walker Platinum 18. The mother of two is posed in front of the bar as she holds up her cup and smiles into the distance. (No word on whether or not this is a partnership or ad photo.)

The second slide includes the famous meme of DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby from his 2013 film, The Great Gatsby. The meme, which was originally a promotional poster, has become one of the most viral on the internet.

We have to say, Kaling pulled it off pretty well and we weren’t the only ones who thought so. One IG user commented on the post, “Well you nailed it. And a gorgeous photo to boot!” Another follower added, “Aww it’s like y’all are cheers’ing each other. My new favorite meme.”

The post comes a few days after The Mindy Project actress celebrated her birthday. In honor of the occasion, her pal, Reese Witherspoon, shared a sentimental post featuring a series of throwbacks with the birthday girl, saying, “Happy birthday to my brilliant / hysterical / gorgeous friend @mindykaling aka the only person who can make me laugh just by looking at me sideways.”
