Mike Johnson Wants to Be the Bachelor…But Hasn’t Been Asked

Mike Johnson is opening up about why he never became the Bachelor after appearing on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette.

PureWow recently sat down for an exclusive interview with the 32-year-old reality star, who revealed that he’s never been approached about starring on The Bachelor. Wait, what?

“I know it’s something that a lot of people want, but I’ve personally never been asked,” he told PureWow.

Johnson went on to say that he’s never been seriously considered for the role, despite widespread interest. He continued, “It seemed like I was the popular choice two times in a row, but for some reason, I’m not someone the producers want.” Yes, you read that right.

Despite his lack of involvement, Johnson couldn’t be more thrilled for Matt James, who is set to become the first Black Bachelor. However, he advised the contestants to steer clear of drama and focus on their relationship with James.

“It’s simple: They shouldn’t look at themselves as if they’re on TV. They should look at themselves as if they’re trying to date someone. When there are no cameras around, how would you date that individual?” he explained. “You shouldn’t be nervous whatsoever. I do understand that it’s a crazy time for them, but they have to just zone in on what they need to do.”

Apart from Bachelor Nation, Johnson is preparing to release his debut book, Making the Love You Want, which will hit shelves on World Smile Day (Friday, October 2). “It’s about the stories and the struggles that I’ve gone through personally,” he said. “I hope that the readers can resonate with that or find some resemblance to their own stories and struggles in life and what they’ve overcome.”

Your loss, ABC.
