Michelle Williams just landed a major role on the big screen, and we’re totally on board. (Literally.)
Williams is set to star in the upcoming biopic The Challenger, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie will tell the true story of a teacher-turned-astronaut named Christa McAuliffe, who was one of seven crew members killed in a space mission gone awry.
The tragedy took place on January 28, 1986, when the space shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after takeoff from Cape Canaveral. It killed all seven crew members, including McAuliffe, who posthumously received the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
The Challenger is expected to begin production in spring 2019. It will be directed by Martin Zandvliet (Land of Mine), and Jayson Rothwell (Polar) will pen the script. Ben Renzo (The Birth of a Nation) will executive produce alongside John and Art Linson (Sons of Anarchy).
You had us at Michelle Williams.
