All Meghan Markle Wants Is a Good Yoga Session

After a long week sometimes all we want is a little downward dog and a nice long Shavasana. So does Meghan Markle.

It’s been a week packed with royal engagements for the pregnant 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex. In between writing encouraging notes and talking to young thespians, Markle chatted with a yoga enthusiast in the crowd and admitted she wanted to sink into a relaxing yoga practice right then and there.

“What kind of yoga do you do?” Markle reportedly asked her fellow yogi. “It works for the mind and body, it’s so key. A nice practice would be so fantastic right now.”

The duchess incorporated yoga into her wellness routine at a young age, as her mother Doria Ragland is a yoga instructor and introduced her to its benefits early on. As she previously told Best Health Magazine, “I started doing mommy-and-me yoga with her when I was 7. I was very resistant as a kid, but she said, ‘Flower, you will find your practice—just give it time.’ In college, I started doing it more regularly.

Markle went on to say she looks to yoga for “muscle strength, greater happiness, increased mental focus, a greater ability to relax, decreased anxiety and better sleep.”

This could be why the duchess shared with royal well-wishers during her tour of Oceania last October that she opted for a 4:30 a.m. yoga session to combat her jet lag.

Markle now relies on yoga so much in her daily life that she and Prince Harry are reportedly including a yoga studio in their new home at Frogmore Cottage.

Namaste, Meghan.
