We guess this is our cue to finally stop sending Meghan Markle well wishes and IRL friend requests, because she’s made a decision about her bridesmaids. (Sadly, we weren’t chosen.)
Turns out, the royal bride-to-be, who will be walked down the aisle by her father at St. George’s Chapel on May 19 to marry Prince Harry, decided not to choose a maid of honor, according to a media briefing from a Kensington Palace aide. Even though she has at least six BFFs (Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra, Misha Nonoo, Millie Mackintosh, Jessica Mulroney and Lindsay Roth are all in the Markle inner circle), none of them made the cut to hold the near-regal title of Maid of Honor to Duchess Meghan.
The reason? She couldn’t pick just one friend. Aww. But also spoken like a true diplomat. (Seems like she really is getting the hang of this joining-the-British-monarchy thing.)
Instead, the Palace revealed that Meghan will be “assisted” by a handful of girlfriends and that the bridal party will be made up of children (just like Kate’s wedding) who will be bridesmaids and page boys. Yep, that means little Princess Charlotte and Prince George will be in the wedding party.
So, you’re telling us the post of wedding usher is still open? Where do we apply?
