Meghan Markle Has Her Choice of One of *These* Four Wedding Accessories
We’re counting down the days till May 19, and we’ve already got a few ideas about the dress Meghan Markle could wear down the aisle. But there’s also the bridal accessories: Will she go traditional with long gloves? Or what about a floor-length veil? There is one fashion statement the bride-to-be is particularly bound to don, which we didn’t see coming.
According to Ella Kay, royal jewelry expert and founder of the Court Jeweller blog, Meghan Markle will probably wear a tiara on her wedding day, just like almost every royal bride since the 1930s has done before her (and she’s proven she can rock one like a pro, thanks to her homecoming picture). There are three options for a royal tiara that we’ve seen in years past, so Meghan has her pick of the (diamond-studded) litter.
“But she could choose to go without a tiara, or she could wear another kind of jeweled ornament in her hair,” Kay told Town and Country. Regardless, here are the accessories choices facing the bride-to-be.
The Strathmore Rose Tiara, which was worn by the Queen Mother on her wedding day in 1923, has a vintage-y floral wreath motif that would look absolutely gorgeous on modern-day fairy-tale princess Meghan.
Princess Diana wore the Spencer Tiara during her wedding to Prince Charles, which is owned by the Spencers rather than the Royal Family, but could serve as a nice tribute to the late mother of the groom.
Another tiara, worn by the Queen Mother and called the Cartier Bandeau, contains three gem-set bracelets and is “a royal heirloom packed with diamonds,” Kay said.
Of course, Meghan could go off-book and forgo a tiara completely, or have one specifically made for her wedding day. Whatever she decides, we know she’s not one to shy away from breaking with tradition. And, for that, we salute you, Meghan.
