Royal Wedding Detail Spilled: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Want to Serve a Cake That Breaks with Tradition

It’s true: Prince Harry loves bananas. But that’s not the only reason he and his bride-to-be Meghan Markle are thinking of serving a banana cake at their royal wedding next May.

Early on in the couple’s courtship, Markle posted a cheeky (and sorta cryptic) nod to their budding relationship on Instagram. The image? Two bananas cuddling, plus a caption from Markle: "Sleep tight xx."

Fast-forward a year since the post and the duo is now engaged and said to be seriously considering a banana cake as an homage to their sweet—and totally romantic—inside joke. FYI, this confectionary choice bucks royal tradition. Typically, the top tier of a royal wedding cake is fruitcake because it will last long enough to be served at the christening of their first child. (No pressure, Meg.)

Cake is cake if you ask us, but we kind of love that the royal pair is going their own way with all this stuff. Also, cutest inside joke ever? Yes. (Wink, wink.)
