Count it as proof that Meghan Markle is going to go her own way when it comes to her new (and soon-to-be official) royal role. At her engagement photo op with Prince Harry, she was dressed to the nines in a gorgeous green dress and white trench coat, but despite the chilly weather, she decided to go without a Queen Elizabeth-approved essential: tights.
Yep, Markle was bare-legged as she stood in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace, a move that her soon-to-be sister-in-law Kate Middleton has not yet dared to make. In fact, Kate is known to wear flesh-toned pantyhose for almost all of her public appearances, but—think about it—when you’re the future queen of England, you most likely have a different set of royal rules.
Regardless, we applaud Markle for skipping the restrictive (and sometimes itchy) option right out of the gate. After all, the path to a more modern palace starts by...leaving your hosiery at home.
