Meghan Markle Appeared on the U.S. Open Jumbotron & Yes, the Moment Was Caught on Camera

ICYMI: Meghan Markle recently made a solo trip across the pond to support her longtime friend, Serena Williams, in the U.S. Open. Although it was supposed to be a below-the-radar weekend, that wasn’t the case.

A fan recently posted a video from the tennis match, featuring the moment the Duchess of Sussex, 38, appeared on the stadium’s Jumbotron.

In the clip, Markle is minding her own business when she notices herself on the big screen, along with her title: “HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” She proceeds to smile at the camera and give a shy wave before returning to her conversation.

This is Markle’s first solo overseas trip without her son, Archie, though she was far from alone during the annual tennis tournament. The royal watched the match from the official team box, which is basically a designated suite for coaches, friends and family.

Other familiar spectators included Williams’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, along with several members of the tennis player’s family: mom Oracene Price, husband Alexis Ohanian and sisters Isha Price and Venus.

During the match, Williams lost to Bianca Andreescu, a 19-year-old athlete from Canada. Andreescu defeated Williams in the first two sets, with a final score of 6-3 and 7-5.

Although it wasn’t the outcome she was hoping for, Markle still made the most out of her trip and even found time to celebrate the birthday of her longtime friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin.

All in a day’s work.
