From wearing pantyhose (ew) to perfecting the curtsy, Meghan Markle has settled into royal protocol so gracefully that those messy buns seem like a distant memory. So when the Duchess of Sussex nearly committed a royal no-no at the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards yesterday, we couldn’t help but gasp.

So what’s the issue, you might ask? Welp, in public, Meghan and Kate Middleton are expected to sit in a very specific manner called the “duchess slant,” and a plebeian leg cross just doesn’t cut it.

Much to Samantha Cohen’s relief, Meghan did ultimately angle her legs into a duchess slant, allowing us to finally exhale.

We’d say that was too close for comfort, but TBH, the duchess slant hardly looks comfortable.
