Meghan Markle Took a Break from the U.S. Open to Surprise Her Makeup Artist

Just because Meghan Markle is now a member of the royal family doesn’t mean she can’t make time for her friends.

Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex, 38, hopped across the pond to watch her close pal Serena Williams compete in the U.S. Open finals on Saturday. Despite her busy schedule, Markle also found time to visit her longtime friend and trusted makeup artist, Daniel Martin, who just so happened to be celebrating his birthday.

Martin shared a photo on his personal Instagram account and revealed that Markle presented him with a delicious spread of birthday cupcakes.

He captioned the post, “I am so overwhelmed by all of your well wishes! My sincerest gratitude!! Thanks to everyone for reaching out to me today and Meg, love you friend for surprising me on my special day #itsmybirthday.”

Martin is best known for doing Markle’s makeup for her royal wedding at St. George’s Chapel in May 2018. Although the pair have been close for years, their friendship expands far beyond the beauty chair. In fact, the makeup artist was one of the first guests to visit her new home at Frogmore Cottage, so he’s a pretty big deal.

While it’s clear that Martin enjoyed their brief reunion, the purpose of Markle’s visit was mainly for the U.S. Open, where Williams lost to 19-year-old Bianca Andreescu of Canada.

We’re just happy to know that Markle still makes time for kind gestures.
