This Accessory Sold Out in Minutes Thanks to the ‘Meghan Markle Effect’

It seems as though everything Meghan Markle touches turns to gold sells out in minutes (e.g., this coatthis dress, her lace-up Aquazzura heels and now the above handbag).

The future wife of Prince Harry donned the bag—from Edinburgh, Scotland-based label Strathberry—on her first public appearance since the engagement. Similar to the Kate Middleton phenomenon we all experienced back in 2010, people went crazy over the tote, which sold out in 11 minutes from the brand’s own website and Saks Fifth Avenue. It also increased Strathberry traffic by a whopping 5,000 percent and was being resold on eBay for $2,350. So is that what we’d call the Markle markup?

The Strathberry tote, which Markle carried in tricolor burgundy/navy/vanilla (it also comes in 19 other colors), retails for $675 and will be restocked in January, according to the brand’s website.

We’re just praying Markle doesn’t wear the leather backpack we’ve had on our wish list for months. God save the queen internet.
