While we don’t know exactly how many more seasons of The Crown we have to look forward to, we do know future episodes will jump around in time, similar to seasons one and two. So, naturally, Matt Smith (Philip) has a strong opinion on who should play the newest member of the royal family, Meghan Markle.

On last night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Smith and Claire Foy (Elizabeth) were asked to share their thoughts on who they think should portray Markle on The Crown.

To no surprise, Foy was more concerned with the logistics, saying, “Well, the thing is, they’re so young, aren’t they? And that’s probably not going to be for another five years, so we’ll have to choose somebody who’s 11 or 12.”

But Smith, on the other hand, had an immediate answer. After jogging his memory to remember her name, he finally blurted out his pick: Selena Gomez. Yes, Matt. Yes.

The Crown season two is now streaming on Netflix, and we can only hope Gomez is invested in binge-watching prepping for her (potential) upcoming role.
