The New ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Trailer Is Finally Here
Disney has a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious surprise.
The first full trailer for Mary Poppins Returns is finally here and, as expected, it’s positively delightful. It has magical kites and animated carriage rides and dancing chimney sweeps. Oh, did we mention the angelic voice of Emily Blunt?
Blunt stars as P.L. Travers’s iconic character, Mary Poppins, who returns to the Banks household to bring the now-adult Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) out of a funk (and financial ruin). Like the original incarnation, Poppins arrives armed with life lessons (like, never mention a women’s age) and lots of imagination. The trailer also includes a sneak-peek of some of the film’s musical numbers and live action/animation scenes. (Remember those dancing penguins? They’re back.)
The sequel, which kicks off 20 years after the first film, also stars Meryl Streep (The Post), Lin Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins), Colin Firth (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and Angela Lansbury (Driving Miss Daisy).
Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters on Wednesday, December 19. Just a spoonful of sugar will help the medicine wait time go down.
