Listen up, Gilmore Girls fans: Amazon just dropped a new series from GG creator Amy Sherman-Palladino called The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and it’s sure to soothe your complicated feelings about Rory Gilmore’s love child.
Set in 1958 New York City, the clever new period piece tells the story of a young woman named Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) who leads a fabulous life with her husband and two children on the Upper West Side…until it all goes to hell. Midge’s husband leaves her, and she copes like any respectable woman would—by guzzling wine straight from the bottle and turning to stand-up comedy. Spoiler alert: She’s got the wit of a Gilmore and the sass of Michel.
Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein join Brosnahan (House of Cards) in the quippy new series, which is available to stream on Amazon now.
With Sherman-Palladino writing and directing the series, it’s no surprise The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has already received the green light for two more seasons.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be trying this whole “guzzling wine from the bottle” thing.
