There can only be one victor in the game of thrones. Unfortunately for Cersei (Lena Headey), a key piece of her strategy to remain on the Iron Throne won’t be present for the show’s final season.
Mark Gatiss, who plays Iron Bank financier Tycho Nestoris in Game of Thrones, recently told ShortList that he doesn’t appear in season eight of the hit HBO show, and we can’t help but wonder what that means for Cersei.
“I’m not in [Season 8], so I guess I survive,” Gatiss explained. “Although they might just mention offhand that I’ve had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something.”
Potential dragon crimes aside, the fact that Tycho is out of the fold may mean Cersei no longer requires that mega loan from the Iron Bank to fight the Starks, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and her brothers, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), and the Night King (Richard Brake) for the right to rule Westeros. Could that mean she is assassinated, and therefore can’t repay the loan?
We suppose she could simply request another bank employee to help do her bidding, but what’s the fun in that?
The first half of 2019 can’t come fast enough.
