Margot Robbie Wore a Chilling Tribute to Sharon Tate in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

Margot Robbie just confirmed that she went to great lengths to feel connected to her character, Sharon Tate, in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The 29-year-old star recently sat down for an interview with the Today show, where she revealed that she wore the late actress’s jewelry while filming the Quentin Tarantino movie.

Yup, Robbie obtained the items from Tate’s daughter, Debra, who is “such an advocate for keeping the memory of Sharon alive.” Since Robbie didn’t know much about the character prior to the movie, she admitted that the pieces helped her appreciate who Sharon was as a person.

“I was never really exposed to the parts of her life when she was alive, and that was kind of a beautiful part of taking on this role—spending so much time with that aspect, and really appreciating her life as opposed to just knowing about her death,” she said.

However, wearing Tate’s jewelry didn’t come without a cost. “It was sometimes very sad to be that closely connected with real life Sharon,” Robbie added. “It would kind of hit you at moments and suddenly the tragedy of it all would kind of hit you and you’d be tremendously sad.”

Of course, there were “other times she just made me feel so happy because I know she was happy and wonderful. For the most part she was an absolute joy, but yes, there were moments when it was very sad.”

July 26th can’t come soon enough.
