Mandy Moore Celebrates Her Father, ‘Captain Don,’ on His Last Flight: ‘It's the End of an Era for Our Family’

Mandy Moore just celebrated a major achievement by her dad on Instagram.

The This Is Us actress sounded like a proud parent while raving about her father in a new post. Along with a carousel of photos, Moore explained the reason for the celebration, saying, “My dad, Captain Don, is on his last flight as an @americanair captain. It’s the end of an era for our family. After 42 years at the company, he’s reached the mandatory retirement age (65) and he’s saying goodbye to a career that he’s always claimed felt more like a hobby.”

Moore continued praising her father, adding, “To have spent 2/3 of your life at one job; to have raised 3 children and made a living doing something you’re so deeply passionate about is an absolute gift.” She closed by saying, “I hope you’re proud, Dad…. because there are so many of us who sure are celebrating this milestone. Can’t wait for your next chapter and all of the unfiltered Grandpa time Gus is about to experience!! We LOVE YOU!!!”

In Moore's slideshow, we see a shot of her sitting in a cockpit with her father, followed by another image featuring her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. After that, we see the family celebrated with a cake that had toppers that said, “The legend has retired” and “We'll miss you.” The final snap was a baby image of Don.

At the end of Moore's caption, she referenced her son, August “Gus” Harrison, who was born back in February.

We're sure that Gus loves Captain Don just as much as Mandy does.
