Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer Are Fierce Foes in First Teaser for ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’

They’re back…And by they we mean Angelina Jolie’s cheekbones. Duh.

Disney unveiled the teaser trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, giving audiences a look at not only Jolie’s villainous role reprisal, but a first glimpse of a new (and equally as fierce) foe—played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

It was back in February when the full cast was released, with Pfeiffer in the role of Prince Phillip’s (Harrison Dickinson) mother, Queen Ingrith. And in this first clip, we are finally seeing the queen and Maleficent come face to face.

By the looks of things, it seems like Maleficent and Aurora’s relationship will be tested when Prince Phillip asks for Aurora’s hand in marriage and brings her to meet his mother (who is looking to cause a rift between the two). Oh, mothers-in-law.

The film picks up several years after the events of 2014’s Maleficent and delves into the complex relationship between the fallen fairy and princess Aurora as they form new alliances and face new obstacles.

In addition to Jolie and Fanning, a number of familiar faces are returning for the sequel, including Sam Riley (Diaval), Lesley Manville (Flittle), Juno Temple (Thistlewit) and Imelda Staunton (Knotgrass).

The dark villainess says it best: “This is no fairy tale.” Yep, you got that right.
