It’s been a dreadful 14 years sans Lord of the Rings, but (good news!) Frodo and company may be heading to a small screen near you.
Warner Bros. Television and Amazon Studios are reportedly in the early stages of developing a TV series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic high-fantasy franchise, Lord of the Rings, according to Variety.
While the reboot is still in the early stages, Lord of the Rings (and Stranger Things) star Sean Astin (Samwise) says he knew the gang would eventually reunite. He said, “I’ve been saying for 15 years that maybe like 12 years after Lord of the Rings came out, that it would get remade. And people always said, ‘Oh, no, it’ll never get remade! It’s a classic! They could never top it!’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’ll get remade.’”
Never doubt the power of the ring.
